In After nature, Josefine Klougart delves into man's relationship with nature seen through the prism of art. Nature as we knew it no longer exists. Through art, she explores its beauty and its disappearance in our modern reality.
Through major works in sculpture and drawing, the exhibition focuses sharply on Giacometti's fascination with what you actually see when you look. Tall, slender figures with raw, organic surfaces. Giacometti (1901-1966) is internationally known for his iconic depictions of long-limbed human figures. The sculptures that stand in some of the world's largest museums are largely the reason for Giacometti's fame - both in his own time and today, when he is considered one of the most important artists of the 20th century. But his art also spans painting, graphics and drawing.
New beings and new worlds emerge in the monumental and symbol-laden paintings and installations of the Dominican-American Firelei Báez (b. 1981). She draws on her Caribbean roots in poetic, colorful works that revolve around cultural identity and mix a dark prehistory with elements from both folktales and science fiction.
This exhibition is meeting between works from the museum's collection. In the North Wing, Alberto Giacometti, whose works form a classic center of gravity on Louisiana, has been joined for the first time by Louise Bourgeois – another of the 20th century's all-time great artists – and her iconic Spider Couple.
Explosions of color. Flaming brush strokes. Dizzying perspectives. Painting that vibrates between merciless distortion and heartfelt sensitivity. This is the first ever exhibition in Northern Europe with Chaïm Soutine, one of the Paris School's leading and most distinctive expressionists.
For her first major exhibition in Scandinavia, the internationally renowned artist Kapwani Kiwanga (b. 1978) explores social mechanisms and power dynamics through large-scale installations of plants, foliage, sand, colour and light. Just below the surface of Kiwanga’s seductively beautiful works lurk critical themes. Plants tell toxic stories of power imbalances, colours have manipulative effects and light is investigated as a political instrument.
This is an all-encompassing installation that mixes film, animation, music, graphics, etc. As a spectator, you are completely absorbed here in a large, pulsating and symphonic visual drama.

Ramses II, Tutankhamun, Akhenaton and Nefertiti are just a selection of the legendary ancient Egyptians that you can meet in the Egyptian collection. The exhibition contains more than 300 works originating from a period of more than 3,000 years. This long period of time makes it possible to see both the development of Egyptian art and major works from each period. From monumental sculptures and parts of architecture to the world of the many Egyptian gods and the magical hieroglyphs. And of course also the both scary and alluring mummies.
